The 2nd International Congress On Engineering Education (ICEED 2010)

The 2nd International Congress On Engineering Education (ICEED 2010) will be organized by the Engineering and Technical Education Research Group (EnTER), Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia together with Centre of Engineering Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). It will be held on 8 to 9 December 2010 at Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa, Kuala Lumpur. ICEED 2010 will serve as a forum for the sharing of innovation and good practice in engineering education. It is hoped that it will provide delegates with the opportunity to exchange knowledge, new ideas and research that could help improve their own approach to learning, teaching and assessment. IEEE Malaysia Section and IEEE Malaysia Education Chapter are the Technical Co-sponsors of this Congress. The Proceedings of ICEED 2010 will be included in the IEEE Xplore database.

PROJECT ASSOCIATE/RESEARCH ASSISTANT is a generalist responsible for:
•Implementing initiatives, programs and activities related to designated functions of CaRE or its higher authority.
•Planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting programs; managing data and other technical support; and forecasting various other needs and beyond.
•Preparation of proposals for seeking fund and grant.
•Communicating with various levels of stakeholders/partners who are committed to programs organized by CaRE.
•Implementing research activities.
•Other duties as assigned by CaRE.

REQUIREMENTS:
•A Bachelor Degree in relevant disciplines (CGPA: 3.0 & above)/ Interested to pursue Postgraduate (Master) Program.
•Excellent English reading, writing and speaking skills.
•Research or doing systematic inquiry experience
•Multitasking, strong interpersonal skills, self-starter
•High level of oral, written, presentation and communication skills
•Program/curriculum development experience for adults and community

The Asian Reproductive Biotechnology Society (ARBS) is a professional forum that was established in 2004 in RIKEN-Center for Developmental Biology, Kobe, Japan with the aim for the exchange of information and to promote the educational and scientific interests of the reproductive biotechnology research community throughout Asia. The previous year’s annual ARBS conferences were held in various countries in the Asia region such as Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Cambodia. The Faculty of Information Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, Malaysia, is hosting A-LIEP 2011: Asia-Pacific Conference on Library & Information Education and Practice- Issues, Challenges and Opportunities on 22-24 June 2011.

This will be the fourth international A-LIEP conference to provide a platform for participants to discuss, share, and debate on several issues and challenges facing education and practice in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS), with particular emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region. Since 2006, 2007 and 2009, when the first, second, and third A-LIEP were held in Singapore, Taiwan, and Japan respectively, there have been rapid changes and developments which have brought about new and emerging issues for us to reconsider and examine. Hence, the A-LIEP 2011 will bring together academics, researchers, scholars, practitioners, and individuals interested in the vast field of LIS from across international boundaries for meaningful educational networking, collaboration, exchange of ideas, and knowledge sharing through paper presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and exhibitions.

We are calling for abstracts of academic papers / case studies / research papers that may discuss any of the topics identified under the scope and theme of the conference. The abstracts must not be more than 1000 words. The deadline for the final receipt of abstracts is extended to 31 October 2010. Please follow the guidelines for abstract submission.

The MAHA Exposition biennial series is Malaysia’s leading agricultural show. Hosted by Ministry of Agriculture and Agrobased Industries and organised by the Federation Agriculture Marketing Authority, it certainly is amongst the largest and most comprehensive of its kind in the region, if not in Asia. MAHA 2010 to be held beginning November 26th 2010 and to run over 10 days, is expected to build on the success of MAHA 2008 a show accorded to be the largest Exhibition by the Malaysian Book of Records. Background

For the first time in the 21st century, the ICNP 2010 will be held in Penang, the holiday destination island located north-west of Malaysia. This conference will bring together local and international experts to share their research findings and experiences, collaborate through cross-disciplines and develop strategic alliances with the industries and regulatory bodies to spin off commercial production of globally accepted natural medicines of guaranteed potency.

The conference will run concurrent multidisciplinary areas of natural products including ethnopharmacology, raw material sourcing and database information, phytochemistry, quality control/standardisation and good manufacturing practice, preclinical biological activity and toxicological studies, formulations, pharmacokinetics and clinical studies as well as commercialisation and marketing strategies.

A Workshop on Usability Engineering

The International Conference on User Science and Engineering (i-USEr) 2010 is proud to announce a workshop on Usability Engineering, a field that is concerned with making human-computer interfaces highly usable. Usability is a lot more than just the user interface that comes out with the product at the end of the development process. Usable systems do not emerge by accident; in fact, they are a product of a careful process called Usability Engineering. Thus, usability engineering is more important to IT and Computer professionals now than ever before.

The workshop will be conducted by Professor Alan Dix, a guru in HCI who has vast experience in usability engineering. i-USEr 2010 is honoured to have the opportunity to bring the guru to come down to Malaysia to give training on how usability engineering should be done and thus, will improve the product usability and user satisfaction.

Professor Alan Dix has many years of experience as an Academician, a HCI Scientist, and a Director in various institutions and organisations. He is currently a Professor at Computing Department, Lancaster University, UK and a Director of Lancaster University Business and Enterprise Limited and Lucidina Ltd. He also consults industries concerning novel signal processing for undersea cable detection and use of genetic algorithms for constraint satisfaction in submarine design. He has won international patents for his work in Method And Apparatus For Signal Presentation and Improved Software Interface Agent. He has also been externally recognised and affiliated due to his significant contributions to computing technologies, particularly in the area of Human-Computer Interaction.

This workshop is targeted at everyone who is doing, involved, or at least has interest in research and development in the area of usability engineering, HCI, user interface design, interaction design, user experience, and research methodologies.

So, come and join this great chance to meet the GURU of HCI, and take the opportunity to learn from the best. This workshop will be the best learning ground for everyone and open for new ideas and possibilities for research and development of usable product design.

With our annual PPB Scholarship program, we wish to provide educational opportunities to the youth of the nation and to build a better future for the deserving and needy Malaysian students who would otherwise be denied of higher education due to financial constraints.

THE SCHOLARSHIP
• Offers up to RM4,000/RM7,000 per academic year for Diploma/Degree programme respectively.
• Opens to financially needy and academically deserving students are pursuing/intending to pursue higher education in local public/private universities/colleges/polytechnics.
• Requires successful scholars, upon completion of their respective courses and graduation to serve as an employee of PPB or any of its subsidiaries for a minimum of 2 years (subject to vacancy availability).

• Civil/Structural Engineering
• Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
• Quantity Surveying
• Building/Construction Management

TO QUALIFY
• Must be a Malaysian citizen
• Full-time student in local university/college
• Already gained/Intended to seek acceptance into local public/private universities/colleges/ polytechnics (for new undergraduates, please submit to us via email the letter of acceptance once you received it).
• Excellent SPM/STPM results or other relevant results.
• Currently not holding any other scholarship or receiving any financial assistance from any otherorganizations.

SYARAT-SYARAT PENGAMBILAN :

1. PENYELIA

a) Kerakyatan	:	Warganegara Malaysia.
b) Kelulusan Akademik dan Pengalaman	:	Lulus Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) atau kelayakan yang setaraf dengannya. ATAU Pegawai yang sedang berkhidmat bagi kumpulan sokongan daripada Gred 27 hingga 39. ATAU Pegawai yang sedang berkhidmat sekurang-kurang 8 tahun di dalam kumpulan sokongan daripada gred 17 hingga 26.
c) Umur Minimum	:	18 tahun pada tarikh temuduga.
d) Bahasa	:	Berkebolehan bertutur dan memahami bahasa yang paling luas digunakan di kawasan penyeliaannya.
e) Berkebiasaan dengan Kawasan	:	Seberapa boleh calon hendaklah terdiri daripada mereka yang biasa dengan kawasan tempatan.
f) Pengangkutan	:	Keutamaan hendaklah diberi kepada calon yang mempunyai kemudahan pengangkutan sendiri terutamanya bagi mereka yang ditugaskan di kawasan luar bandar.
g) Kematangan	:	Matang dan berkebolehan melatih dan menyelia Pembanci di bawah jagaannya.

2. PEMBANCI

a) Kerakyatan	:	Warganegara Malaysia.
b) Kelulusan Akademik dan Pengalaman	:	Lulus Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) atau kelayakan yang setaraf dengannya. ATAU Pegawai yang sedang berkhidmat bagi kumpulan sokongan daripada Gred 17 hingga 26.

d) Bahasa	:	Berkebolehan bertutur dan memahami bahasa yang paling luas digunakan di kawasan bancian.
e) Berkebiasaan dengan Kawasan	:	Seberapa boleh calon hendaklah dipilih daripada mereka yang biasa dengan kawasan tempatan.
f) Pengangkutan	:	Keutamaan hendaklah diberi kepada calon yang mempunyai kemudahan pengangkutan sendiri terutama bagi mereka yang ditugaskan di kawasan luar bandar.

CARA MEMOHON

1.	Borang permohonan boleh didapati dari Pejabat Daerah Dan Tanah yang berhampiran di mana calon tersebut akan berkhidmat atau di Pejabat Negeri, Jabatan Perangkaan Malaysia. ( Bagi Negeri Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Kelantan dan Selangor borang-borang boleh diperolehi/ dihantar ke Pejabat Negeri, Jabatan Perangkaan Malaysia atau Jabatan Penerangan Negeri/Daerah ). atau DOWNLOAD BORANG PERMOHONAN
2	Borang permohonan hendaklah dilengkapkan dengan dokumen berikut:- a. Gambar berukuran pasport (lekatkan pada penjuru kanan Borang Permohonan); b. 1 salinan kad pengenalan yang disahkan; c. Salinan Diploma dan sijil-sijil persekolahan yang berkaitan yang disahkan;
3.	Borang yang telah lengkap diisi hendaklah dikemukakan kepada:-

Alamat Lengkap ( Berdasarkan Perkara 1 seperti di atas )

4.	Permohonan yang ditolak : a. Tidak disertakan dokumen yang diperlukan dan tidak disahkan; b. Tidak lengkap atau tidak terang; c. Tidak ditandatangani;

CATATAN :

Hanya calon-calon yang layak sahaja akan dipanggil untuk temuduga. Permohonan yang tidak menerima sebarang jawapan selepas tiga bulan temuduga diadakan hendaklah menganggap permohonan mereka tidak berjaya.

Bidang :     Fizik, Kimia, Biologi, Matematik, Sejarah, Agama Islam, Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Inggeris dan mana-mana bahasa pilihan.

Syarat lantikan :

Calon bagi lantikan hendaklah memiliki kelayakan seperti berikut:-

Kelayakan Untuk Lantikan Ke Jawatan Guru (DG41)

(a) (i)          Ijazah sarjana muda kepujian dalam bidang berkenaan yang diiktiraf oleh kerajaan daripada institusi-institusi pengajian tinggi tempatan atau kelayakan yang diiktiraf setaraf dengannya; atau

     (ii)          Ijazah Sarjana dalam bidang berkenaan yang diiktiraf oleh kerajaan daripada institusi-institusi pengajian tinggi tempatan atau kelayakan yang diiktiraf setaraf dengannya; atau

     (iii)         Ijazah Doktor Falsafah (Ph.D) dalam bidang berkenaan yang diiktiraf oleh kerajaan daripada institusi-institusi pengajian tinggi tempatan atau kelayakan yang diiktiraf setaraf dengannya;

dan

(b) kepujian Bahasa Malaysia/Bahasa Melayu (termasuk lulus Ujian Lisan) pada peringkat Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia atau kelulusan yang diiktiraf setaraf dengannya oleh kerajaan.

Syarat Tambahan:

(c) Fasih dan boleh berkomunikasi dengan baik dalam BM dan BI, mempunyai pengetahuan dalam bidang yang ingin diajar, berminat untuk mengajar pelajar-pelajar yang berpotensi tinggi, boleh menerima cabaran dari murid-murid pintar, Kreatif, kritis dan komited, bersedia untuk mengadaptasi kurikulum dan sukatan pelajaran bagi menyesuaikan dengan keperluan pembelajaran pelajar pintar cerdas, bersedia untuk menghadiri sesi latihan atau kursus sekiranya ditawarkan dan sihat dari segi emosi dan fizikal.

Penetapan Gaji Permulaan

Gaji permulaan yang lebih tinggi atas P1 Gred DG41 boleh ditetapkan oleh Pihak Berkuasa Melantik berkenaan berasaskan kepada pengalaman kerja atau kemahiran berkaitan.
